Last weekend, we spent out saturday in Kedah Gunung Jerai. There were total 15 of us, but only 11 made up for the hike though.
We departed from penang at 7am and reach took about 40mins drive to reach Gurun - Kedah. Then we went to Gurun town to had our breakfast before we met up with the Van driver who would be sending us up to the foothill.
You might be wondering, why is that a need to take van to reach a FOOT HILL?? Ok, this is very easy to explain, as we were doing a point to point hiking. Say like we start at point 1, and hike to the ending point called point 2. We parked our car at the point 2 ending, so we need someone to send us to point 1; so that after the hike we can straight away to get our car at point 2 and go home.
The sunny day looks good for hiking

Other than green, you will see GREEN ....

Group photo before we started our hike, our tradition

Another photo at the starting point - Tangga kenari - a very long, steep and boring tangga!!

Peh and I

Mak took our shots while we were hiking. Along the hike we were also under leeches attack!! The leeches were like every where on the mountain!! Some of it even stand still and waiting for you to come!!! Once they feel you, they will jump on you!!! Whoa... geli lo!

I was crossing over the trunks

This was the 'ending' staircase, we were like 30 mins from the ending point

There we go, another shot of us

Tangga Kenari ending phase

When i reached the top, Mak told me to remove my shoes to check whether is there any leeches in there... and i did.... SEE IT??? The leech was in there for hours and i didnt even know it. The hike took us about 2.5 hours, and we were told about 4 to 5 hours hike and therefore i was expecting the hike will be very tough.
And after the hike, i realized this mountain is easier then Teluk Bahang where we used to hike point to point in Penang. Anyway, it was a good experience though, fire fighting with leeches... GELI LOH!!!!!

We found the giant spider in the Recreation park on top of the Mt. Jerai and too bad it was closed until DEC 08 for upgrading renovation.

It was closed since 22nd APR 2007 until 31st DEC 2007, but NOW ITS ALREADY APR 2008 WOR!!!!
