Malaysia's consumer right? Ahem....

An US visitor shared his view today.

I really like Malaysia. I want to live there someday. It is a country that has many things to be proud of. While the Petronas Towers and Putra Jaya showcase good infrastructure and engineering, it is very important to not ignore the “little” things that still need polishing. An often overlooked, but very important part of daily life is customer rights and satisfaction. Safeguarding these things is one area that Malaysia’s federal government should to improve. An ongoing dispute I have with Air Asia illustrates this point. read more

He was complaining how bad Air Asia's management is. He lost his luggage and Air Asia took months to admit their own fault. Erm.... i truly agreed with him. I would like to share my own experience with this stupid Air Asia when i was flying back from KL to Penang.

It was an early flight, i took taxi from my sis house at 6am and reach KLIA at 645am. I checked in and i headed to the gate no. which stated on my boarding pass. The gate supposed to open for us to board at 720am. There were 2 flights using the same gate that day, 1 for KUL - PEN and another from KUL - Sabah. The gate for KUL - PEN was changed, they made announcement ONCE but none of us heard it. So all PEN passengers still waiting at the old gate. The hoster on duty DID NOT EVEN BOTHER to tell us we all waiting at the wrong gate. CIBAI! One of the lady walked up and asked in GOOD MANNER, i was just right beside her.
'How come the gate still not open for us for boarding?'

The CIBAI hoster answered her : we made announcement just now saying the gate for PEN flight had changed to **. How come you all still waiting here?

F you! If we heard and knew about the gate changes, why we still waiting there?? Stupid, its her job to inform us, why cant she speak in a proper manner? When talked about service, i became a very particular person. I worked as counter crew before.... yea one of the service line job. So i can understand what customer want from us. For counter services; smile, fast response and service are essential elements. If you are standing at the counter, but you are having difficulty to show your teeth, (may be too yellowish! :P) then you are completely FAIL lor.

Same thing, when we travel on FLIGHT, we paid more for what?? better service ma. Air Asia still can survive because their CEO is very smart, low price air fare and good financial management. Too bad, their service management is SUCKS!!! Ppl travel with Air Asia for only 1 reason, its cheap. Service?? we never expect we will have a good one.

I compared Thai and SIA. Thai... 1 or 2 from the entire team will smile at you. SIA .... much better than Thai. I never fly with MAS so i cant make any comment.

Consumer rights is not a popular thing here, to us.... spending months to get back something worth <100 bucks is very tedious. You might end up getting nothing at the end!! Unlike in well developed countries, these can be done quickly. Thats why we live with our own culture, used to it. Even my bro bought a STUPID Wira with lotsa problems.. He himself gav up for complaining. People still drive even the power window is not working.... why so stress?? Malaysian customers are very easy to deal with.... :)

Thats how Malaysians live.
