Here comes the 2nd visit to the Penang forest. Our hiking trip from Teluk Bahang to Pg hill this day on 29th Dec 2007. We had done that back in Aug when we joined the yearly Merdeka run event. This is the 2nd trip for us and we were so excited about it. Although i had expected a tough time during the hike. As this is a long distance walk >10km hike. If you don't have good stamina and strength from your legs; it is actually a tough walk for you.
Early morning at 730am, we took photo before we headed to Teluk Bahang forest park. I didnt know there is such a place until last Sat.

Our gloves, this is for our protection along the hike.

The walking sticks from Thye Ven. I find it is not so useful because it had occupied my hand. I prefer to hike hands - FREE. It will be useful when going down hill especially during raining days.

Beng and Lawrence

Boon Kee, Teik Sin and Thye Ven

Me, Syidah and Mila

His new boots

I couldn't believe that i can hike with my ex- manager now. He was a 'stranger' to me back then when i was working with him. But now we communicate to each other thru emails and hike together. :D

The group photo before we depart

My hiking partners

It was a tough and interesting hike

I added too much 'red' to this photo, my face like a 'kuan kong'

Enjoying our icy cold 100 plus

Took a short break before we moved on

Here we are, the peak of Laksamana.

We were actually standing on the top of the island, and believe me, the wind up there is breezy and cool. :P

Taken with our event organizer, Sunny ( with cap ) and Mak
At this point, Mak informed me about Syidah and Mila that they couldnt made it and gave up this hike. What happened was; Mila was not able to go any further, sweepers (Eddy and Piew) the 2 guys whose very kind and helpful volunteered to bring Mila back to the beginning point. While CA Kua and Beng carrying Eddy and Piew back pack and wait for them to catch up the hike later.
And eventually after a while Syidah was down!! Beng had no choice and got to bring Syidah back and meet up with Eddy and Piew whose now on their way back to the forest park. Beng throw all the back packs to CA Kua - now he is carrying 3 large back pack!! And waiting for Beng to come back.
When Beng and Syidah met up with Eddy, Piew and Mila; he walked back to the trail and met up with CA Kua and helping him to loose some back pack weight. :D Surprisingly, after reaching the forest park; Eddy and Piew whose already 2 hours behind the first group; guess what?? They still able to catch up with Beng and CA Kua already halfway in the jungle. I truly respect to all these people who offered help for this incident.
Lesson learned; i will NEVER extend my hiking invitation to 'anyone'. In fact i didnt invite them to join this hike as i had expected this is a long distance and tough trail. It was invited by one of my invitee. And before that i had already informed to all invitees; this is NOT going to be easy, so choose the right person to hike. The reason being is, i dont want any incident like this to happen again, when you want to invite someone to join the hike, you must consider the level of strength and stamina of that person. If that one person failed in the middle of the jungle, it will only create inconveniences to other hikers. And for safety and health stand point, hiker SHOULD NOT go for long distance hike until they are ready. I had apologized to all helpers, and of course they never blamed on me but then again i still feel very bad about this. I am very very sorry. Of course i hope Syidah and Mila are alright.
We were having fun before greater challenges in the jungle
The trail was steep and every steps must be walked carefully
This guy nvr stop posing while hiking down the trail
Noticed the 1 leg missing? We used to have 4 legs last time but the 1 leg missing fell in love to Mountain Biking, so we will wait until he joined us.
After 4 hours walking, we had reached the top and now its the walking down time to Pg hill
We were the top 15 list among 44 hikers. Ahem.... not bad ler! I improved my speed this round.
Couldn't stand the sun light and i put on my sunglasses
Everything is delicious when we feel hungry
Yummy yummy chicken pie
The canopy walkway
The view of Island and Mainland

These houses has the British type look
Another nice scene
Yum yum ice kacang
We took 4 hours for the entire hike, this is the shorter route compared to my 1st visit back in Aug this year. I am hoping our organizer can make this happen more often so that i can take this as my Mt KK training. Next desire trail will be the Mt Irau in Cameron Highland. We shall plan it out then. Hehe, i am belongs to the jungle. :D
we took jeep to go down, i attached the video here.
